Hi, I'm Jordan, president of the SNAC Team. As part of a new initiative, I'm going to highlight what produce is in season for the month and hopefully help you pick more sustainable options when shopping. Besides the many health benefits (fruit grown and harvested during its natural season has more nutrients), there are also significant environmental benefits. The produce is less likely to be imported, which cuts down on fuel and gas emissions, and reduces the demand for out-of-season produce, which helps support our local Quebec farmers. While I personally love visiting the Atwater market to pick up some fresh produce and Alexa (our VP Finance)’s personal favorite, cheese, sometimes we can’t go out of our way. So when you’re at the store this month, here are some conscious decisions you can make to help reduce food waste and assist Mother Nature.
